White Beaked Dolphins

There were also a few pods of white beaked dolphins, Lagenorhynchus albirostris). We were able to identify them by the light stripes along the sides and the light patch behind the dorsal fin. We were never able to get a good view of the white beak that gives them their name.

Most of the birds on this page and the previous humpback whale page are black-legged kittiwakes, Rissa tridactyla, gull-like birds that are adapted to nest on sea cliffs.
