North Dakota & South Dakota

high plains parks

At the end of a prolonged series of medical treatments we decided to treat ourselves with a short vacation. So we set up our homemade camper on the back of the pickup and headed out. We had been to the high plains region of western North and South Dakota a few times before and really liked it. Four national parks in that region are in the short grass prairie biome - the place where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play.

We enjoyed our time there, taking hikes, watching wildlife, soaking up the tail end of Indian Summer, and ironing the wrinkles out of our soul.
