Georgian Bay

Georgian Bay
Georgian Bay

In grade school we were told that Lake Huron, the third of the five lakes in the Great Lakes chain, had the outline of a trapper with a pack on his (her?) back. If so Lake Huron proper is the trapper and the Georgian Bay, lying to the northeast of the main part of the lake, is the pack. Killarney lies on the outer or northeastern side of the bay where the granitic ridges of the Canadian Shield dip under the bay. It is an area of granite shorelines, small islands, and many bays. Quite sccenic.
