Day 4: Marble Canyon at Nankoweap

marble canyon

At Nankoweap Creek the Colorado River hits the north-south running Butte Fault and then follows it down to the junction with the Little Colorado River. At Nankoweap Creek there is a rubble field spilling out of Nankoweap Canyon. There are some Anasazi ruins on the rubble field that provided an excuse for a short hike. I didn't go because my feet were bothering me. Sand on the constantly wet sandal straps was rubbing my ankles badly in several places. So instead I made a short climb to get a slightly different perspective of the canyon and the river.
