Lago Pehoe & Southern Beech
(Parque Nacional Torres del Paine)

Lago Pehoe

Although most of the vegetation is scrub forest or tundra, in protected valleys you find southern beech as individual trees and in small stands. There are several species, all of the genus Nothofagus. Members of this genus are common in the southern Andes and on the coastal islands of southern Chile.
