We came to the island primarily to skin dive (just mask and snorkel). The tropical reef environment was wonderful. Literally hundreds of different types of corals and invertebrates and fishes. Just experiencing the reef was a dream come true.
I fail to see how anyone could look at that overwhelming array of life and not be struck with an awe of our natural world - and a concurrent sadness that we are rapidly destroying the world's reefs.
A goal was to photograph some of these reef creatures, but unfortunately the Canon d10 underwater camera I bought specifically for the trip crapped out after the first shot. Oh, well!
Our photos were limited to this young barracuda hunting in shallow water and a frigatebird cruising overhead.
