Roadtrains - a single tractor with three, four, or even five trailers towed behind - are a fact of life on highways in the outback. While tourist mythology depicts them as threatening behemoths we found them to be no big deal unless the road was very narrow.
Alice did nearly all of the driving. It took a while to get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the road and going around "roundabouts" in the opposite direction. The steering wheel was on the right side of the van and you had to shift with your left hand.
