Giant Trees

karri   red tingle

Along the south coast of Western Australia is a temperate rain forest. Here you find the big Eucalyptus trees. Karri, Eucalyptus diversicolor, (left and below) can reach up to 90 meters (almost 300 feet), making them the tallest broad-leafed tree in the world. The Red Tingle, Eucalyptus jacksonii, (above) are nearly as tall. Walking in a grove of these giants is an awe inspiring experience (at least for some of us).
